Church is more than just a building; it’s a welcoming community of people who share a common faith in Jesus Christ. Just like the body in Romans 12:4-5, we function best when we work together.
Here at Nairobi Grace Chapel (NGC), we have a variety of ministries and groups to help you belong, grow in your faith, and use your gifts to serve others. Our ministries offer opportunities to experience God’s presence, discover your calling, and use your unique gifts to serve others.
Whether you’re looking for spiritual growth, meaningful relationships, or a chance to give back, there’s a place for you at NGC. Proverbs 27:17 tells us that “iron sharpens iron,” and we believe in the power of community to help us all grow stronger in our faith.
Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us that we’re called to “do life together as the body of Christ.” At NGC, we believe there’s “something for everyone” – a place to connect and grow alongside others on your faith journey.
Background of Nairobi Grace Chapel
Pastor Martin Mwirigi’s Calling
Pastor Martin Mwirigi, fresh from Bible school, was called by God to shepherd a small church in Marurui, Nairobi. This church was Redeemed Gospel Church, which later birthed Nairobi Grace Chapel (NGC).Marurui was a neighborhood marked by neglect and hardship, with a strong presence of the gang “Mungiki” contributing to a palpable sense of fear. Pastor Martin began his mission in a tiny classroom with just six members, despite significant financial challenges.
First Relocation
Slowly but surely, the church grew. Three months after their start, they took a bold step, moving from the classroom to a rented hall for a more fitting worship space, costing slightly more (1000 Ksh per week) than the previous classroom. Their dedication paid off – the membership began to increase.
Leasing a Plot
In 2004, the pastor secured a much larger plot of land for the church for 5,000 Kenyan shillings. This marked a significant step forward, but the beginnings were still humble. For several months, the congregation worshipped outdoors, under the open sky. By God’s grace, construction soon began, and by 2006, the church had a completed and polished building, though it was initially just a basic structure with corrugated metal roofing (“mabati” in Swahili). Through this church, God drew many people to himself, and the church’s membership grew steadily. They relied on God’s grace to guide them through challenging times.

Leasing a Larger Space with a Tent Sanctuary
In 2015, with the support of its members and relying on the grace & leading of God ,the church flourished and leased a much bigger place with a beautiful tent sanctuary where we had our services for some years .
Land Purchase and Tent Sanctuary Destruction
In 2022, Nairobi Grace Chapel reached another milestone with the purchase of land and the erection of an enormous tent sanctuary. However, tragedy struck when a heavy downpour destroyed the tent, leading to a period of adversity and testing the faith of the congregation. Indeed, every set back is a set up for a comeback! because few minutes before the destructive torrent, God showed pastor an image of a beautiful glass sanctuary to build. (The church was reduced to square one! with a massive loss since the tent housed musical instruments, Screens, Chairs among many other losses. Test of faith! We worshipped under the open skies that following Sunday, glory to God! weather was conducive.

New Church
In 9 months, the congregation worshipped in open skies and Pastor Martin’s guidance led the NGC fraternity to commence the construction of a beautiful glass sanctuary which is our home to date. Through various outreach programs, impactful ministries, and a commitment to serving others, the church has become a beacon of hope and a testament to the transformative power of faith. Today, it stands as a vibrant and thriving community, a testament to the incredible journey from humble beginnings to a place of abundant grace and blessings. An epitome of grace at work, is how we summarize our journey as a church.

Faith
This value encompasses trust in God’s sovereignty, belief in His promises and total reliance on Him. We value commitment to faith in God and biblical teachings.
Service
Serving others is a fundamental value inspired by Jesus Christ’s example of compassion. We’re driven by the mantra Service to humanity is service to God to engage in outreach programs, acts of kindness and generosity to meet the needs of the less fortunate around us both within and without the church community.
Integrity
We believe that the church maintains sobriety when everyone maintains uprightness in and out of church . This is encouraged with congregants being taught to uphold integrity and not just put a form of godliness.
Community
As a Church we value fellowship hence we provide supportive and nurturing environments where individuals can connect with one another and experience a sense of belonging. This is enhanced through the care groups.
